Rowena is a physiotherapist with over 28 years in private practice including 8 years as a rehabilitation consultant for injured workers. She has developed a keen professional interest in chronic pain management over the last few years after her own experiences with chronic back pain that didn’t resolve with conventional approaches. She is a director of STEPP - solutions, tools and education for persistent pain (www.stepp.com.au ) . This program seeks to help patients with chronic pain who feel they have limited options and encourages them to explore a multi-disciplinary biopsychosocial approach to reducing the protective pain response. Rowena is currently undertaking a PhD with University of Sydney researching the use of ketogenic diets as an intervention option for chronic pain. Rowena has also worked as a professional photographer and is blessed to live on Jervis Bay NSW where she can enjoy running, cycling and paddleboarding.
